Cheap Full Coverage Auto Insurance – Some Important Facts You Need To Know

Having cheap full coverage auto insurance or as it is sometimes called comprehensive auto insurance is a good idea for peace of mind motoring, however you must read the fine print to ensure that the cheap part doesn't mean lack of coverage. The last thing you need is to find out ‘by accident' that your policy is not all it is cracked up to be.

If you find a full coverage insurance policy that is at a price that seems too good to be true chances are that it is too good to be true. More than likely you will find that you are not covered for things that you would otherwise have coverage for from another comprehensive policy. In a nutshell comprehensive insurance should cover you and your vehicle in the event of an accident regardless of circumstances.

Also personal injuries to both yourself and any occupants of your vehicle plus the occupants of the other vehicle should have adequate coverage in the event of an at-fault accident. All towing, storage and incidental costs should also be covered so be sure to check this in the fine print of your policy documents. Naturally all costs involved in the unfortunate event of theft, damage, flood, fire etc to your vehicle should be covered in full also.

Of course full coverage insurance may just simply be too expensive when your age, driving record, gender etc etc are taken into account but there are a few things that should be considered when looking for the best price. Many insurance companies offer multiple policy discounts meaning that if you combine, for instance, your home and contents insurance and car insurance with the one company they may offer you a discount.

Also, although not many people take this into account, the type of car that you drive can have a huge impact on your premiums. For instance an eighteen year old male will have a hard time getting affordable insurance for a sports car! Something else to consider is getting a higher excess charge in return for a lower annual premium. What this means is that in the event of having to make a claim on your policy you will pay a higher charge but your annual rate will be lower. 

If you find that the comprehensive insurance quotes you are getting are too expensive and you are tempted to settle for the minimum third party type insurance, think again and spend some time searching all of the insurance companies. You may just be pleasantly surprised at what some companies are willing to do to secure your business.
